'Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle' Is the Perfect Bedtime Game

I mean, it’s pretty great anywhere, but it’s even better as a wind-down.

In my attempt to actually finish all (or most) of the games I am loving this year, I am steadily chipping away at Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. I’m in the last world now, but I keep going back to find secrets, complete challenges and seek out every secret chapter in the earlier worlds.

Yeah, the game is brilliant. It probably has a home on my top ten list, which is a very crowded place right now. But importantly—it’s also been a source of great comfort at night, just before bed.

I’ve written before about how it’s a fantastic airplane game, and kept me company on some recent trans-atlantic flights. Well, it has also been a perfect sleepytime companion, where I’ll put 30 minutes of strategizing in while I allow the anxieties and difficulties of the day melt away. I get comfy, put my Switch in a position that doesn’t hurt my wrist, and settle in for some battling. The pace of play is perfect—engaging and as deliberate as I need it to be, without riling me up.

How about you, readers? Do you have a preferred bedtime game that helps you chill out before lights out?
