Nintendo Just Announced a Ton of Promising Indie Games for Switch

A mixture of exclusives, Switch-first releases, and ports have us excited about the coming months.

One of the best reasons to own a Vita was because independent developers embraced the platform, giving it the games Sony didn't have the resources for and bigger studios didn't seem interested in creating. For a time, it was a magical little device, but it seems the launch of Switch and Sony's smaller emphasis on independent developers have created an opening for Nintendo. As part of Nintendo's summer "Nindie" showcase, the company showed off an incredible suite of games that may just give you plenty of new reasons to turn on the Switch.

The big headline was a first look at designer Suda51's new game, a stylish new adventure starring Travis Touchdown, No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again. Though no gameplay was shown, the concept is interesting: Travis gets pulled into a game console and must fight his way out through a variety of different games. Apparently, these games will be made, at least in part, by collaborating with other developers. (They teased artwork from Hotline Miami.)

I've embedded some of the trailers below, though some games, like Golf Story, are only available by scrubbing through the stream itself. (It's right next to Mom Hid My Game.) You can see the rest of them by heading over to Nintendo's YouTube channel:
