Microsoft Started E3 With Ladies At The Wheel

'Forza 7' will feature obscenely good graphics, hints of gender parity.

At E3 2017, Microsoft's press event started—well, the game presentations started—with Forza Motorsport 7, looking slick as all get-out on the newly revamped Xbox One X hardware. As much as I'm a Forza fan (and, apparently, kind of a big racing game fan in general), I was even more tickled by the subtle positioning of women in both the trailer—it starts out with a confident woman driver walking to a car—and onstage, at the presentation itself.

Two professional drivers, Shannon McIntosh and Verena Mei were on-hand to chat about the game and show off its impressive graphics and framerate on the new hardware.

It wasn't treated as a big deal, it wasn't "we have WOMEN HERE" just a cool, subtle, but very visible nod towards inclusion in the hyper-competitive sim racing game world.

Oh, uh, there was also a world premiere of a Porsche. I mean, that's cool, yeah.

And yes, the game looks positively amazing. I sunk many, many hours into Forza Horizon 3 not long ago, and I'm looking forward to doing the same with this new game this fall.
