Hi Waypointeers! I have recently started watching American Gods and holy bananas, that show is beautiful. I don't exactly know what's going on in it (I suppose I should actually watch the first episode), but I don't even care, because the cinematography, the music, the entire look and feel (mise-en-scene? Don't hate) are so arresting.Everything, from the sunny, contrast-y open roads, to the crevassed face of Mr. Wednesday, to yeah, the dick pic, is shot with this incredible, undeniable lustre. And the music! The lighting! I adored every frame of Bryan Fuller's previous series Hannibal, so I shouldn't be surprised, but this really came out of nowhere for me.Also, Gillian Anderson does a mean I Love Lucy. Or Media? Maybe I should refer to her as Media.So here's the question for today's open thread! Do you ever watch/play anything entirely because of the look? I'm not necessarily calling for media you find beautiful in spite of the story content, but simply something you were drawn to with no prior information or exposure.Let's discuss it in the forums!
