Please Let Us Turn Off These Butt Ugly 'Battlegrounds' Esports Promos

While likely a temporary change, it doesn't fit the game at all.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is months away from leaving Early Access , but the game's already entering Esports; at Gamescom later this month, the event will host the first competitive invitational. As hype, the developers recently altered some of the graffiti you come across in the game, art that teases the players who'll be part of the invitational. You can't turn it off, and it sticks out like a sore thumb.

As rough around the edges as Battlegrounds might be, the aesthetic is part of its charm. The game provides no explanation for why you're fighting a bunch of people in an island seemingly out of war-torn Eastern Europe, but it doesn't matter. It has a grounded, serious feel that matches the game's brutal gameplay. One moment, you're safely hiding from the gunfire around you. The next, someone's lined up your head on the hill behind you. Pop. (I'm usually dying.)

As an American, everything feels foreign and strange and uncomfortable. It adds to the tension generated by the game itself. This doesn't work nearly as well:

These changes are likely temporary, but it'd be nice if there was an option to switch it off. I'm not against the game adding sharks, though?
