Like the game that inspired it, Dark Souls, players go through a certain emotional cycle while plaything through Nioh. First, you're curious. Then, you're frustrated. Next, you're angry. Soon, you're throwing the controller across the room. Eventually, with a little luck, there's elation, as a boss that's given you fits for the better part of an hour finally succumbs to your sword blows. Onto the next.I'm currently slogging my way through Nioh, a brilliant but brutal action game that I'll be writing about more soon. (The short version: you should play it.) If you're not sure what you're in for, I played a few hours on Twitch yesterday. I'll hopefully be checking in with the game on stream, as I make my way further in.
