What’s a Game that Makes You Feel A Little Left Out?

'Destiny 2' seems cool and all, but I’m not fully in on the hype.

I usually want to try and stay somewhat posi in open thread. But I can't deny it, I've been feeling a little bit left out of the hype lately.

First, there's Battlegrounds, a game I respect the hell out of, but until there's full controller support, I can't really play it (I have a bad wrist that keeps WASD controls out of the question for me, though I've heard good things about steam controllers!)

One day, Auntie Knuckles will be able to fully dive in, but until that day… it's lonely boat jazz for me.

I can do a little more about Destiny 2, since, hey! I'm playing it on my PS4. I played something like 10 minutes of the first Destiny, and really didn't see the appeal (or remember anything that happened). But I know so many excellent people who love it—including most of the Waypoint staff, especially Rob and Joel, who has an ungodly amount of hours in the first game.

So, I started playing 2 this weekend, determined to give it a real shot. I've played a couple of hours now, and I am keeping my mind open. I think I'm starting to see part of the appeal—there is a lot to do here, and the game is positively gorgeous. There are a lot of fun sci-fi trappings, and weirdly enough, I think I love the Farm.

Is it probably going to be my cup of tea? Not really. I've never been much for loot grinding, and my favorite thing to do in most games is explore or stealth my way around enemies. Shooting things is totally fine and can even be fun (for me, Doom is the reigning champ in this department), but it's rarely my primary motivation.

But that's ok! I'm glad that so many improvements were made to the second game that I'm able to enjoy it and examine it as a piece of game design. There were clearly a lot of very intelligent people working on this, and looking for level design lessons and even lighting tricks is fun for me right now.

But what does this for you, dear readers? What's a game that many people enjoy, but you can't quite see it?
